Dark tired eyes?

As we get older one of the first areas to show any signs of ageing is our eye area.  Wrinkles, crow’s feet, dark circles and bags are something that the majority of us will try to battle as our faces begin the transformation into our older years – not a welcoming thought!

I notice every morning how tired my eye area looks regardless as to how many hours sleep I do or don’t have.  Even my most glamorous of friends are starting to show tell-tale signs.  But can we do?

Not wanting to resort to cosmetic surgery or Botox injections and having tried the majority of ‘miracle’ creams I decided as a last resort to try the following, inexpensive tips:-

  • I read in a magazine that the way you sleep can affect how your eyes look. Sound crazy?  I thought so until I tried sleeping with three pillows.  I have been doing this for the last six months and I swear it has made a difference. Don’t believe me?  Just try it and see – after all what have you got to lose?
  • Save two used teabags every day and put them in your fridge overnight.  In the morning take them out and place one on each eye for 5-10 minutes (herbal teabags are better, but I have been known to use the odd Tetley teabag now and then!) this will instantly give tired looking eyes a boost.
  • When you are sat watching TV at night, massage your eye areas with you middle fingers. Simply place your middle finger on the innermost point of your eyebrow.  Breath in and as you breathe out, press in with your finger and hold for the count of three.  Repeat again to the end of your eyebrow, moving your finger a small way along your eyebrow each time.  Now follow the same process exactly but working along your lower eye socket area. Start at the outermost area of the eye socket working you way to the inner corner of the eye.  Finish by covering your closed lids with your fingers and breathe deeply for three seconds.  Repeat this process three times.  This simple exercise will help to revive your eye area – four weeks in and there is a slight improvement.
  • If your skin is thin underneath the eye socket, drink two litres of water a day – it will certainly help to plump up the skin and help it appear smoother.

Following these tips might not take 10 years off your age, but they will help to combat the signs of ageing and eventually someone will tell you how ‘refreshed’ you are looking… surely that’s got to be worth it!
