Book of the month – September 2010

The girl with the Dragon Tatoo small
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
– the trilogy by Stieg Larsson

A different story with each of the three books, but all linked and where the characters grow on you and the stories are intertwined and develop beyond expectation.  Without giving much away, I found the two characters strangely mesmerising and quite unlikeable – one drifting through life and the other the recipient of early and sustained tradegy, misfortune and almost haunting beauty – in my imagination anyway.  All three books are compelling reading, to be savoured and enjoyed.  All three provide the opportunity to weave in your imagination to uncompleted avenues, within the stories.

I relished this discovery as I had for many months studiously avoided purchase –  I didn’t like the front cover, or the story was set in some cold and faraway place - but on completion of the first I immediately purchased the two remaining novels, always a good sign in my book:-

The Girl who played with Fire
The Girl who kicked the Hornests’ Nest

So if you’re looking for something you can really get your teeth into, have a read and let me know what you think…
